PURPOSE: A variable inertia device for a transmission input shaft is provided to reduce a rattle noise by applying inertia to the transmission input shaft and to obtain smooth gear-shift feeling by removing the inertia in the transmission input shaft. CONSTITUTION: A variable inertia device for a transmission input shaft(1) comprises an inertial body assembly(3), a linear motion unit, and a connected state conversion unit. The inertial body assembly is installed in the transmission input shaft in a state that the inertial body assembly rotates freely. The linear motion unit generates a linear displacement in the transmission input shaft according to the control of a clutch pedal(5). The connected state conversion unit converts the inertial body assembly into a free rotation state or a non-rotation state against the transmission input shaft by the linear displacement of the linear motion unit.
