PURPOSE: A screen region distinguishing method and a terminal device using the same are provided to display both a page flicking region and a scroll region on a single screen of a smartphone by distinguishing regions of the smartphone screen based on regional properties extracted from metadata. CONSTITUTION: Input data displayed on each region of a smartphone screen and each metadata corresponding to the input data can be received(S110). Regional properties of the regions where the input data are displayed and coordinate information for each region can be extracted from the metadata(S120). Display regions of the input data can be set as a page flicking region or a scroll region based on the regional properties and coordinates extracted from the step S120(S130). After the regional setting, the input data are displayed through the regions(S130). When a user touch signal for a specific region on the smartphone screen is received, a page flicking operation or a scroll operation can be performed for the specific region containing the coordinate of the location where the user touch signal is generated, based on the regional properties of the specific region, containing the coordinate of the location where the user touch signal is generated, among the regional properties extracted from the step S120(S140).
