A method for scheduling a scalable video coding stream in a wireless mobile network

In a method for scheduling a scalable video coding (SVC) stream to one or more users in a wireless mobile network a physical resource block (PRB)/user pair having a highest utility among the available PRBs and users is determined (310, 312, 314), and the PRB of the pair is allocated (316) to the user of the pair. The utility is determined using fuzzy logic inference, the input of the fuzzy inference being a significance of a layer of the SVC stream to be scheduled to the user and a transmission rate for the user over the PRB.
