PURPOSE: A display control device and a control method are provided to rapidly supply a simple operation by consisting with the processing, which closes a menu by pressing a shortcut key, and the processing which opens a specific menu by pressing the same shortcut key when the menu is opened. CONSTITUTION: A specific operation unit displays a specific menu on a display unit(101). The specific menu is among a hierarchical menu composed of menus which perform a setting or operating instruction for a display control device. When the specific operation unit is operated, a display control unit releases a display of the specific menu. When the specific operation unit is operated in case that the specific menu and a different menu are displayed, the display control unit displays the specific menu. When the specific operation unit is operated in case that one level menu is displayed, and a menu item is selected, the display control unit releases the display of the specific menu.
