<p>The base unit 100 comprises a recess 110 for receiving a depressible insert and a number of projections 122A, B extending into the recess for retaining the depressible insert therein, the recess having a shape in plan view that comprises six or more sides. The recess may have a shape comprising a rectangle with chamfered corners, with the recess preferably having eight sides. The shape preferably extends substantially the full height of the recess. The base may be formed from metal or plastic and may be substantially circular in plan view. Also claimed are a depressible insert for use in a road stud and a metal base unit for a road stud with a horizontal groove extending around its periphery.</p> |
