PURPOSE: Impedance matching method and impedance matching device are provided to efficiently perform impedance matching. CONSTITUTION: An impedance matching device(100) includes an impedance matching circuit(110), a detection unit(120), an AD converter(130) and a control unit. The detection unit detects transmission power intensity amplified by a power amplifier and intensity of reflective power reflected from an antenna. The AD converter converts the detected signals into digital signals. The impedance matching circuit controls impedance between the power amplifier and antenna. The control unit sets up a first search range, searches a first maximum matching point in the first search range and detects the first maximum matching point. The control unit determines if a matching value at the first maximum matching point is out of the threshold range determined based on the first maximum matching point or not. If the matching value at the first maximum matching point is out of the threshold range, the control unit sets up a second search range searches a second maximum matching point in the second search range and detects the second maximum matching point.
