PURPOSE: An image photographing device is provided to adjust a focal distance of a lens by detecting a distance to a subject through an image. CONSTITUTION: A lens unit(110) images light reflecting from a subject(300). A lighting unit(140) radiates one of a light for lighting or a pattern light for focus position measurement to the subject. A control unit(180) measures a distance between a plurality of patterns projected to the subject by the pattern light and detects a distance to the subject. A focus adjustment unit(160) adjusts a focus of the lens unit as an optimal focus distance corresponding to the distance. A photographing unit(190) captures the image by imaging the subject.
