PURPOSE: An air conditioner is provided to prevent an imbalance between heat exchange capacities of indoor and outdoor units. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises outdoor units(10) and a plurality of indoor units(21,22). The outdoor unit includes an outdoor heat exchanger with a plurality heat exchange units, a plurality of outdoor expansion units corresponding the plurality of heat exchange units, a path varying pipe(126) for varying a flow of the refrigerant of the outdoor heat exchanger, and a path varying valve(127) included in the pass varying pipe. The indoor units are connected to the outdoor units and respectively include indoor heat exchangers. In the cooling operation, the refrigerant flows in the heat exchangers when the pass varying valve is opened and flows to some of the heat exchangers as the pass varying valve is closed when a capacity reduction condition of the outdoor heat exchanger is satisfied.
