PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing an Abutilon avicennae extract for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases is provided to suppress nitrogen oxide and nitric oxide synthase, and to treat rheumatoid arthritis or asthma. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases contains an Abutilon avicennae extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared from Abutilon avicennae leaves, fruits, roots, stems, seeds, seed coats, or a mixture thereof using an organic solvent, water, or a mixture thereof. A food composition for preventing or treating inflammatory diseases contains the Abutilon avicennae extract as an active ingredient. The inflammatory diseases include rheumatoid arthritis or asthma. A method for preparing the extract comprises a step of extracting Abutilon avicennae with the organic solvent, water, or a mixture thereof. |
