PURPOSE: A retarder filter and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to secure an image of a wide viewing angle by using liquid cells consisting of discotic liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION: First alignment layers(150a,150b) are formed at both sides of a first liquid crystal layer(120). Buffer layers(140a,140b) are contacted with the first alignment layer. Second liquid crystal layers(100a,100b) are contacted with the buffer layers. Second alignment layers(160a,160b) are contacted with the second liquid crystal layers. The second liquid crystal layers are made of discotic liquid crystal(70). If electric field is not applied, the second liquid crystal layer diffuses the incident light. |
