<p>PURPOSE: A transmitter and a receiver are provided to improve the performance of a UDTV[Ultra Definition Television]in which a MIMO system is applied, as a long channel can be accurately estimated even with a low SNR[Signal to Noise Ratio]. CONSTITUTION: A transmitter includes a modulator(110), a STBC[Space Time Block Code]coding unit(120), first and second multiplexors(131,132), first and second IFFT[Inverse Fast Fourier Transform]units(141,142), and first and second transmitters(151,152). The modulator modulates the inputted signal. The STBC coding unit performs temporal spatial block coding for the modulated signal. First and second multiplexors arrange a pilot signal provided to a block-coded signal in a comb form. First and second IFFT units perform IFFT about the output of first and second multiplexors. First and second transmitters respectively transmit the output of first and second IFFT units.
