PURPOSE: A residual toner quantity detection method of an image forming device is provided to enable a user to easily check residual toner quantity, thereby reducing the waste of time. CONSTITUTION: When a sampling number reaches a predetermined sampling number, an image forming device calculates an average value and a ripple value of sampling values(S430,S440). The image forming device determines and stores a residual toner quantity state by using the average value and the ripple value(S450). When a user presses a residual toner quantity display key or requests printing output, the image forming device transmits residual toner state data(S460,S470). The residual toner state data is displayed on an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) of an operation unit or a screen of a PC(S480).
