PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling a sunroof are provided to improve the responsiveness to control the sunroof and reduce the current ripple by selectively apply a controlling method when controlling the sunroof. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling a sunroof comprises an operation switch(110), a control unit(120), a motor driver(130), a sunroof motor unit(140), and a sensor unit(150). The operation switch receives a sunroof operation signal by the operation of a user. The control unit delivers a sunroof position correction signal or motor control signal to the motor driver to control the motor driver. The motor driver controls the sunroof motor unit through a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal. The sunroof motor unit opens and closes the sunroof through a motor driven by the PWM signal. The sensor unit senses the position of the sunroof.
