PURPOSE: A rearward radar system and a control method thereof are provided to unify software of a left radar system and a right radar system as one and to simplify management of software and production process of a product. CONSTITUTION: A rearward radar system(20) comprises a memory(230) and a control unit(220). The memory includes a software for radar, a parameter for left side radar, and a parameter for right side radar. The control unit is driven by the software for radar. If a first signal is input, the control unit detects a peripheral object whether consists in a blind spot of a vehicle or not using the parameter for left side radar. If a second signal is input, the control unit detects the peripheral object whether consists in the blind spot or not using the parameter for right side radar. If the peripheral object consists in the blind spot, the control unit warns a driver for danger with a warning lamp or an alarm.
