The device (100) has a body-near signal transmitter (102) attached to a patient, and a control device (101) connected with the signal transmitter. The control device is designed to actuate the signal transmitter such that the signal transmitter emits two remainder signals (106, 106') in a predetermined remainder signal sequence. One of the signals is different from the other signal to avoid loss of remainder effect by familiarity of the patient. A confirmation device (104) is connected with the control device and actuated by the patient for confirmation of signals of the signal sequence. The signal transmitter is designed as a vibration motor. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a device for delivering perceptible remainder signal to a patient.
