The invention relates to a projection device (24) for projecting payload data onto a projection surface, wherein the projection device comprises several laser devices, which emit radiation of different colors. In order to create a feedback signal, the beam comprising the radiation of all colors is coupled into a deflecting device (28). The deflecting device has a bounding surface (30), which is designed to deflect the coupled-in radiation by means of total internal reflection. A coupling-out element (34) is coupled to the bounding surface (30). The coupling-out element is designed to couple at least part of the radiation incident on the bounding surface (30) out of the deflecting device (28). The invention further relates to a corresponding method for projecting payload data.
