PURPOSE: A sleep start control apparatus of a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to suppress excessive increase of engine RPM(Revolution Per Minute), by operating a lockup clutch when the vehicle starts in the stop state of the vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A state detection part(30) detects current state information of a vehicle. A damper clutch state checking part(60) checks the state of a damper clutch from the current state information of the vehicle. A sleep start condition judgment part(70) checks whether the current state information of the vehicle satisfies sleep start operating condition or not. A sleep control part(80) enables the vehicle to operate in a sleep mode by controlling sleep start enable.
