Anhydrous sodium dichloroisocyanurate is prepared by mixing dry powdered dichloroisocyanuric acid and dry powdered sodium carbonate deca- and/or hepta-hydrate in amount sufficient to prevent a rise in temperature of the mixture, and drying the paste obtained. Anhydrous sodium carbonate or bicarbonate or other hydrates may be additionally employed. Preferably the acid is added over 30 minutes at a temperature below 20 DEG C. to the crushed hydrate and the mixing is containued until evolution of CO2 ceases, usually after another 30 minutes. The resultant paste is partially dried in a thin layer at ambient temperature or by ventilating with dry air at 20 DEG C. for 5-12 hours, and the remaining water removed by heating at 80-100 DEG C. Alternatively, the paste may be atomized. |
