INTEGRALLY STIFFENED, REUSABLE VACUUM BAG, AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reusable, lightweight and handable vacuum bag used for compressing laminated composite parts.

SOLUTION: The reusable vacuum bag for processing the parts is made by encapsulating a generally rigid frame within a flexible diaphragm. The bag is made of an elastomer material such as a room-temperature curable RVT silicon. The frame exists around the diaphragm and includes a seal for sealing the diaphragm.
