<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of achieving high picture quality in displaying a video using four colors of sub-pixels. <P>SOLUTION: A display device comprises a plurality of pixels each of which has first to third sub-pixels corresponding to colors of red (R), green (G) and blue (B), respectively, and a fourth sub-pixel indicating higher luminance than the first to third sub-pixels. In each of pixels, the first to fourth sub-pixels each has a light-emitting element between a pair of base plates disposed opposite to each other. Each of the first to third sub-pixels is provided with a color filter for selectively transmitting its corresponding color light on a side of one base plate of the pair of base plates, and the fourth sub-pixel is configured so that transmittance of light emitted from the light-emitting element is reduced in a partial or whole area of the fourth sub-pixel. Thus, a difference in transmittance between the first to third sub-pixels having the color filter and the fourth sub-pixel not having the color filter is reduced, which results in making good brightness balance and easily expressing desired color chromaticity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
