PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sustained release formulation that contains a crystal of biological agent, polymer gel, and particle suspension.

SOLUTION: This invention is directed to the sustained release formulations of a biological agent that enables sustained bioavailability. A bone morphogenetic protein can be pointed out as a desirable biological agent. The diseases expected to be improved and/treated by this formulation include a skeletal tissue disease (for instance, degenerative joint disease and other osteochondral disease, if not limited thereto). This formulation is particularly suitable for the treatment of a tissue site where there is a minimal or no vaascular formation (for instance, intraarticular, interjoint, or meniscal site, if not limited thereto).
