The invention relates to lighting technology. It can be used to produce economical, uniform light which is comfortable for the eye using LED light sources in order to light residential, technical and service premises. In addition, the invention makes it possible to achieve the technical result of transforming the light beams from the sources into one or more emergent light beams having a larger cross-section, a more uniform brightness of the emergent beams across the cross-section, a high light input/output efficiency, and set directions of the emergent beams. This result is achieved in that in the method for shaping light, which involves the manufacture of an elongated LED element having, in at least one longitudinal cross-section, a base and two lateral sides which taper from the base to an apex, wherein the base of each of the longitudinal cross-sections is situated on the end face of the LED element, light is fed from at least one directional light source to the end face of the LED element, and the angle between the direction of the light from the directional light source and the direction of the elongation of the LED element is selected in such a range that the light undergoes at least one complete internal reflection from the tapering lateral sides in at least one longitudinal section of the LED element and exits via one of these tapering lateral sides after at least one of the complete internal reflections.
