<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic apparatus which prevents generation of a short circuit at a connector part connected to a docking station so as to improve electrical safety and a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic apparatus of an embodiment includes: first power supply means for supplying power to a first electronic circuit provided in an external device; second power supply means for supplying power to a second electronic circuit provided in the external device, being different from the first electronic circuit; detection means for detecting a connection of the external device; and determination means for determining that the external device is an authorized device. When the detection means detects a connection of the external device while neither the first or the second power supply means does not supply power, the first power supply means supplies power, and when the determination means determines that the external device is an authorized device the second power supply means starts power supply. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
