<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the photosensitivity of an image sensor, having a two-dimensional pixel array, for use for an electronic capture device. <P>SOLUTION: The image sensor includes a two-dimensional array having a first and a second pixel group to capture a color image. A pixel from a first pixel group has a narrow spectral light response than from a pixel from a second pixel group, and an individual pixel in the first pixel group has a spectral light response corresponding to at least two color sets. Further, the disposition of the first pixel group and the second pixel group provides a certain pattern having a minimum repetition unit including at least 12 pixels. The repetition unit includes a plurality of cells, and each cell includes at least two pixels representing a particular one color selected from the first pixel group and a plurality of pixels selected from the second pixel group.
