Provided are a method, device and system for paging a terminal. The method comprises: a core network element obtains mobile information or service information about a terminal; the core network element decides the paging range of the terminal according to the mobile information about the terminal and the correlation between the mobile information and the paging range; or, the core network element decides the paging range of the terminal according to the service information about the terminal and the correlation between the service information and the paging range, wherein the paging range comprises: a single cell, a single base station, a plurality of cells, a plurality of base stations or location areas; and the core network element pages the terminal according to the paging range. The present invention can reduce the paging processing of irrelevant cells or base stations, saving network resources. The present invention is suitable for paging in a multi-layer wireless network as well as paging in a single-layer wireless network. |
