<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal adsorption material facilitating recovery after adsorption and improving adsorption efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: A metal adsorption material includes a hydrophilic polymer compound which is obtained by using a hydrophilic compound containing a carboxyl group and a polymer cross-linking agent as raw materials and which is cross-linked in a fiber form. The hydrophilic polymer compound has the solubility of 80% or less expressed by the following expression (1). Solubility[%]=ä(M<SB POS="POST">B</SB>-M<SB POS="POST">A</SB>)/M<SB POS="POST">B</SB>}×100 (1), where in expression (1), M<SB POS="POST">A</SB>denotes the mass of the hydrophilic polymer compound dried after being immersed in water, and M<SB POS="POST">B</SB>denotes the mass before being immersed in the water.
