<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can reduce a deterioration in image quality even if any one of light emitting elements for writing an electrostatic latent image in an image carrier is broken. <P>SOLUTION: An optical writing part 28 is an LPH (LED Print Head) having an LED array 50, a light source drive control part 52, and a memory 54. A lighting control part 405 increases or decreases the light emission amounts for individual LEDs of the LED array 50 within predetermined control ranges. The lighting control part 405 controls the lighting start time and lighting period for each of four control parts. A writing control part 400 extends the lighting period of an LED adjacent to a broken LED and increases the light amount per unit time, thereby controlling the LED array 50 to compensate for a part of a light flux to be emitted by the broken LED. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
