<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress variation in the supply current without increasing the capacitance of a bypass capacitor. <P>SOLUTION: Based on a piecewise linear signal preset depending on the state of a load, a current Im 12 having a predetermined current value under heavy-load, a zero current value under light-load, and changing linearly between the predetermined current value and zero when switching is made between the heavy-load and the light-load is generated from an input voltage Vin. Based on the piecewise linear signal, a current Im 13 having a zero current value under heavy-load, the predetermined current value under light-load, and changing linearly between zero and the predetermined current value when switching is made between the heavy-load and the light-load is also generated from an output voltage Vout.
