RECOMBINANT MICROORGANISM AND DRUG SCREENING METHOD TARGETING IRON METABOLIC SYSTEM USING THE MICROORGANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a recombinant microorganism model which has both sensitivity to iron and resistance to drugs, in which the drug resistance differs between conditions where free iron is rich in the medium and where free iron is lacking there, while maintaining an iron acquisition system gene itself and its expression control originally possessed by the target microorganism in conditions close to nature.

SOLUTION: This recombinant microorganism is genetically engineered such that the base sequence including a gene encoding a drug efflux pump subunit protein is functionally expressed under control of a low iron concentration-responsive sequence.
