VIDEO SIGNAL TRANSMISSION/RECEPTION METHOD, DISPLAY DEVICE, AND DECODING DEVICE

A method using conventional technology for readily determining whether or not a prescribed external device connected by a first transmission path is also connected by a second transmission path has been disclosed, however consideration has not been given to a method that executes a requested operation if the requested operation cannot be executed by the second transmission path (or the first transmission path). Provided is a transmission/reception method for video signals in a first device, a second device, and a third device that are connected via a network. In said method: the first device and the second device are connected via a first network; the first device and the third device are connected via a second network; and the second device and the third device are connected via the second network. The method has: a step in which, if the first device cannot process video signals received from the third device via the second network, the second device receives the video signals from the third device via the second network; a step in which the second device processes the received video signals; and a step in which the second device sends the processed video signals to the first device via the first network.
