<p>The purpose of the present invention is to provide a configuration of a liquid crystal lens with an improved response speed. A liquid crystal lens (11) is provided with a substrate (111), a main electrode (114) and an auxiliary electrode (115) formed on the substrate (111), an opposite substrate (113) that is opposite the substrate (111), a common electrode (116) formed on the opposite substrate (113), a liquid crystal layer (112) sandwiched between the substrate (111) and the opposite substrate (113), and a control unit (119) for controlling the potentials of the main electrode (114), the auxiliary electrode (115) and the common electrode (116). The control unit (119) switches between an ON-state where a potential difference exists between the main electrode (114) and the common electrode (115) and an OFF-state where the potential difference is smaller than in the ON-state, and generates a potential difference between the main electrode (114) and the auxiliary electrode (115) when switching from the ON-state to the OFF-state.</p> |
