PURPOSE: A collision prevention system for a monorail car on a monorail and a method thereof are provided to prevent the collision between monorail cars in advance due to the abnormal overspeeding of the monorail car. CONSTITUTION: A GPS receiver(24) receives a GPS coordination from the GPS satellite in real time. A wireless transceiver(25) and a control server transceive a signal and data. A velocity controller(27) controls the speed of a vehicle. A control unit(26) controls the wireless transceiver in order to receive adjacent vehicle identification data from a control server. The control unit adjusts the velocity controller according to the adjacent vehicle identification data.
