PURPOSE: A liquid crystal medium is provided to have low viscosity, suitable optical anisotropy according to a used display mode, and a wide nematic phase range, thereby providing an excellent twisted nematic and in-plane switching display. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal medium comprises a component A which is a neutral component and includes a genetically compound represented by chemical formula 1; and a component B which is genetically positive and includes one or more positive compounds with a genetic anisotropy with 3 or more. The concentration of the component A is 20-80%. The component B comprises one or more compounds selected from chemical formula 2 and chemical formula 3. A liquid crystal display includes the liquid crystal medium. |
