<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic analyzer with a test plate temporary storage device capable of temporarily storing a test plate in which unused specimen objects still remain. <P>SOLUTION: An analyzer employs test plates A in which a plurality of specimen objects are disposed, each specimen object retaining an inspection reagent part that is colored by reacting with a substance to be inspected in a specimen. The analyzer includes: a spot dispensing mechanism 40 that dispenses a spot of specimen on the reagent part of each specimen object on the test plate; optical measurement means 87 that optically measures color reaction of the reagent part to which the spot of the specimen has been dispensed; and conveying means that conveys the test plate to the spot dispensing position T6 to be dispensed by the spot dispensing mechanism and a measuring position T7 to be measured by the optical measurement means.
