<p>999,824. Valves. STAMICARBON N.V. May 9, 1962 [Nov. 17, 1961], No. 17919/62. Heading F2V. A valve closure member 1 is actuated manually or by power means such as the piston and cylinder 15, 14. The member is carried by a non-rotatable stem 5 in screw-threaded engagement with a primary sleeve 9 which is axially movable, as by a sliding key engagement 11, in a second sleeve 10 which is rotatably mounted in the valve housing 8 and is operated by a hand wheel 13. The slidable sleeve 9 bottoms on a shoulder 12 of the rotatable sleeve 10. A reversible locking member 18, shown in the manual operating condition of the device, is threaded to the outer sleeve 10 by a cap portion 19 and locks the two sleeves 9, 10 together. In the reversed position a stub 20 on the locking member screws into the inner sleeve to abut the stem 5 and prevent accidental actuation by the hand wheel 13, whilst at the same time the inner sleeve 9 is freed for axial movement by the power means 14, 15, through a lever 16 pivoted loosely to a cross-pin 6 through the stem.
