The filter element (32) has an annular closed filter medium (34) which is provided with end portions (36,38). An annular return check diaphragm (44) for opening/closing fluid port (26), is arranged on the filter medium by facing away from the end portion (38). The diaphragm is in a maximum opening state when diaphragm back surface (56) is positioned by facing the bearing portion (60) at the end portion (38). The diaphragm back surface is provided with a relief-like detention fault area to disrupt an adhesion of the return check diaphragm on the bearing portion. An independent claim is included for filter.
