The method involves providing a carrier plate (3) with a resin layer (4). The decorative element (1) with a carrier layer (5) is immersed in the resin layer at desired proportion. The carrier layer, particularly the carrier film and the carrier plate are removed from the decorative element after hardening of the resin layer. The decorative element is held in the hardened resin layer. The resin layer is provided with another resin layer which completely covers the decorative element. The resin layer is covered with a cover plate. An independent claim is included for a composite material plate with a light fixture.
