[Also in Division B5] The chevron structures described in Specifications 815,522 and 815,523 are formed by assembling and connecting together a plurality of folded or corrugated elements, each having the form of a flank of the chevron structure required. In the case of materials which are too rigid to be folded in one operation to the chevron structure but which are available in the form of long corrugated strips, a portion 91 is cut from the strip at the required angle and a series of said portions joined together as in Fig. 1 to form the required chevron structure. Examples of such materials are metal, plastic, fibro-cementitious material, cardboard or paper, or any combination thereof. In the case of a sheet material which can be folded, a flat portion (see Fig. 9), having the profile of a flank of the required chevron structure in a flat state, is cut from a sheet of the material and then folded into a flank member of the required shape (see Fig. 14), said flank members then being joined as shown in Fig. 1. Materials for use in this method are all thin pliable sheet materials, e.g. paper, felt, cardboard, thin metals, plastics or wire netting; thick metal sheets; thick plastics sheets; corrugated cardboard, thick cardboard, laminated materials; wooden sheets and any combination thereof in sandwich formation. A sandwich panel may be formed by applying covering sheets to the two faces of chevron structure, see Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). |
