An insulated architectural profile includes a mechanically strong surface member or members 5A-C enclosing an insulating substrate 17 and are fixable to new buildings during construction or to existing buildings during renovation. The profile is manufactured by placing the surface member in a mould 16 to form the external surface and filling the hollow interior of the mould with a polymerisable precursor and polymerising to form an insulating substrate. The insulated profile may be a window sill 10, a quoin, a voussoir or an arch and its surface may be finished after casting, for example by colouring or adding a texture. A fixing bracket may be placed inside the mould so that the profiles can be securely fixed in place.
|
