<p>This invention provides an aqueous system comprising, per 100 parts by weight, from 35% to 80% water and from 20% to 65% mono-ammonium phosphate (MAP), said MAP containing from 40% to 57% by weight phosphorus pentoxide and being present in the form of both optically detectable solid particles and non-optically detectable solid particles, wherein:
(a) the fraction of optically detectable solid particles having a particle size below 1 µm with respect to all optically detectable solid particles is at least 8%,
(b) no optically detectable solid particles having a particle size above 70 µm are present, and
(c) the average particle size corresponding to 50% of optically detectable solid particles is not above 5 µm. This aqueous system is suitable for use as a flame retardant additive.</p> |
