The matt photonic pigment is a uniform coloured powder without iridescence to human eye which is not bleached, this being formed by particles structured with spheres in arrangements of the synthetic-opal type and covered, in some parts of the surface thereof, by carbon nanoparticles. This matt, uniform and non iridescent colour is achieved by the combination of several optic effects. The change in the synthesis conditions of the spheres that form the structure of the synthetic-opal type allows powders of different colours to be obtained, while the change in the concentration of the carbon nanoparticles in the powder allows different levels in the colour luminosity to be obtained. The main characteristic of the matt photonic pigment is that a single material is used for manufacturing the spheres and obtaining different colours, unlike current pigments that use different chemical compounds for different colours. Once the powder is coloured, the colour may be reversibly changed by the ad dition of a solvent. The inventive material is used as a dyeing element in different applications for colouring objects and surfaces.
