摘要 Invention herewith described refers to the new analog-to-digital converter without special circuit for sampling and holding, based on the measured time required for gauging capacitor discharge and represents a brand new digital circuit that with the help of completely new design of the converter circuit can convert the identified analog voltage signals. The conversion is realized on the basis of the measurement of the time interval required for emptying the capacitor charged to the input voltage value at the time of gauging. The discharge of this capacitor is performed through the constant current source immediately after the sampling of the input signal. Due to this approach the analog-to-digital converter does not require special circuit for sampling and holding which is completely original and revolutionary approach to the problem. The proposed implementation requires much less elements for its realization than so far known circuits for the analog-to-digital converters and it can offer the high accuracy and resolution, and is very suitable for the implementation in the integrated technology. The simulation tests have confirmed all presented assumptions as well as the high performances of the described analog-to-digital converter. The price of this converter would be very low because of the simplicity of the used hardware and its realization. All necessary conditions are accomplished in order to fulfil the analog-to-digital converter designed requirements according to the invention.
