FIELD: process engineering.SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in woodworking for timber ripping. Position of lead guide is defined to set saw unit as well as those of limit guide and intermediate guides, their thickness being related to that of sawn materials. Initially, all intermediate guides are driven by limit guide closely against saw bands and lead guide. Then, limit guide is moved away by magnitude depending upon gap between saw and guide and quantity of saws to rigidly fix it in this position. Several idle saw passes are effected to distribute total gap between saws and guide. Guides are fixed in selected positions.EFFECT: higher efficiency.3 dwg
