583979 Disclosed is a fire hazard protection device for a light or other electrical fitting. The protection device is manufactured from a fire resistant material and shaped and dimensioned to accommodate an electrical fitting within a building in which the electrical fitting is installed. The device covers an installed electrical fitting and is placed in close proximity to insulation materials and includes a cover assembly (2) adapted to fit a hollow base (1). The cover assembly (2) or hollow base (1) has a ventilation actuator (17) which automatically vents any build-up of heat from within the interior of the hollow base (1).
