<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply an electric field or current selectively and locally in a required region in a living body, using a patterned electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention is generally directed to a method for regulating cellular and/or tissue physiology, a device for practicing the method, and a method for fabricating the device. In general, the method comprises the steps of: providing at least one patterned electrode, providing at least one cell, arranging the at least one electrode in electrical communication with the at least one cell, and applying a voltage to the electrode thereby delivering an effective amount of a patterned electric field or current thus regulating the physiology and/or growth of the at least one cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
