The warning system has a device that is warned for generating an acoustic signal by other road users, if a motor vehicle runs in a quiet driving condition. The acoustic signal generating device has a loudspeaker (140), which is arranged in an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine. The loudspeaker is arranged in the exhaust system such that it is not directly located in exhaust gas stream (A). The loudspeaker is arranged in the region of a silencer (100) of the exhaust system.
