A device for tensioning a chain of a scraper conveyor comprises a housing made of two halves (upper and lower), which is attached to a flange of a reduction gear from the opposite side of the output shaft of the reduction gear, a brake disc with a hub on splines located on the shaft of the device, which is in contact with fixed brake friction pads fixed the housing and moving the brake friction pads, hinged on the lever. The movable brake friction blocks of the housing and movable friction blocks are hinged on a lever. The movable brake friction blocks are hingedly secured by means of forks on separate pivot arms connected to the axles of brackets fixedly mounted on the housing and a nut, when moving the latter a brake disc is actuated or released.
