<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader able to open or close a cover member provided at a document ejection port and, moreover, eliminating the need for a power source specifically used for actuating the cover member. <P>SOLUTION: In the case where the size of a document is relatively large, the cover member 5, a path switching member 45, a link member 46 and so on are kept in the respective initial positions, and a first conveyance path (see a chain double-dashed line shown in the selected Figure (a)) is composed in a document conveyance unit 4. If the size of the document is relatively small, the cover member 5 is displaced to an open position. Additionally, the path switching member 45 and the link member 46 are also actuated following the displacement of this cover member 5. Thus, a second conveyance path (see a chain double-dashed line in the selected Figure (b)) is composed in the document conveyance unit 4. A power source for actuating the cover member 5 is shared with a movable mechanism (e.g., a supply roller 41, separation roller 42, resist roller 43, U-turn conveyance roller 44, etc.) for document conveyance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
