<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a readily-manufactured heat insulating wall which has a tapered surface inside and excellent insulation performance, and where a vacuum insulating material having a slope such as a step is disposed so that the slope faces the tapered surface, and to provide a refrigerator. <P>SOLUTION: The heat insulating wall includes: a vacuum heat insulating material which internally houses a core material and has the slope with an end of a thickness reduced gradually or in a stepped-manner toward its outer direction; and a profile having the tapered surface where one surface in an inner thickness direction is slope with respect to the other surface, or a step.
