<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplification repeater, capable of long time communication with battery drive at the blackout of a relay station, and securing signal quality if the battery is dead. <P>SOLUTION: The optical amplification repeater in an optical transmission system includes: an excitation light source for generating excitation light to amplify signal light; an excitation light source control mechanism for controlling the output power of the excitation light source; and an optical amplifier having the battery to supply power to the excitation light source at a blackout. In the event of the blackout, the excitation light source control mechanism decreases a drive current to be supplied to the excitation light source than in an ordinary time, to reduce output power of the excitation light source. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
